Where Love Is Illegal launched its first event in the United States in TriBeCa’s Spring Studios on October 12th, 2015. Co-hosted by Robin Hammond, Harold Smith-Franzen, Sandra Bernhard, John Bartlett and C215, the event featured music by DJ Kris Graham, celebrity appearances and a silent auction of carefully curated luxury items. The private cocktail party and reception served as a preview and celebration of the Where Love is Illegal exhibition opening at the New York Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Community Center. Proceeds benefitted The Fund for Global Human Rights and Witness Change to support LGBTI individuals in the communities featured in the exhibition.
